What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Jizo-yu is praised for its authentic, traditional atmosphere and intensely hot waters, offering a genuine local onsen experience. While some find the reception staff less than welcoming, many appreciate the simple, serene environment and the spiritual touch of the Jizo shrine. It's a great introduction to Kinosaki Onsen, especially if you have an Onsen Pass.
"Jizo-Yu was my very first onsen experience in Kinosaki — and it turned out to be the perfect introduction. The building stands out with a large stone lantern and a small shrine dedicated to Jizō, the Bodhisattva who protects travelers and children. Many guests pause to bow before entering or after bathing, which gives the place a sacred, almost temple-like atmosphere.
The onsen itself is simple and quiet, with a large indoor bath at the center. The water is seriously hot — I could only soak for a few minutes at a time before stepping out to cool down! It may not have an outdoor view, but it offers a truly local, traditional atmosphere that feels authentic and peaceful.
Payment is cash only, so make sure to bring coins. If you're staying at a ryokan, you can use the Onsen Pass with QR code for free access.
Location-wise, it’s easy to find — just across from the only Family Mart in town, and about a 5-minute walk from Kinosaki Onsen Station."

"The water is very very hot. Compared to other Onsen in Kinosaki this bath has nothing special to offer.
But what really bothered us was how we were treated as guests! The ladies are very friendly, but other people at the reception were incredibly unfriendly and impatient with us. The tone was very harsh. By far the most unpleasant conversation we had during our vacation in Japan.
If you want to visit several onsen in one day, it's better to go to the other ones and skip this one—you won't be missing anything."

"One of my favorites in Kinosaki. Simple interior, one big pool, but very hot and deep. The interior is also a minimalistic design but also nice and adds light to the bathing area."
