What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the stunning panoramic views of Tono City from the observation deck, especially at sunset, and enjoy the pleasant walking paths. While the castle ruins themselves are minimal, the scenic beauty and the well-maintained grounds make it a worthwhile visit for a leisurely outing. Some note the climb can be a bit arduous, and bear warnings should be heeded.
"Lovely view from the top of a somewhat arduous climb past a temple. ( There is road access). We arrived on the day the groundskeepers were working so was not too concerned with the bear warnings. As is almost always the case immaculate grounds - and you can appreciate why the site was selected and why it was removed at the start of the Meiji period. Definitely worth the effort."
