What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are captivated by the magnificent 360-degree views from the Yuwandake observatory, often calling it an unbelievable highlight. The unique 'broccoli' landscape is a major draw. However, the infrastructure is poor, with limited signage and no dining facilities, requiring visitors to be well-prepared.
"Magnificent view from Yuwandake, not to be missed! Take note that the mountain road from Uken may not be opened, and we took the other road coming from Amami Forestpolis and it was well worth the trip. Perhaps due to the temporary closure of the road from Uken, there wasn't anyone else when we were there. There's a Torii gate which is the entrance to the summit walk to Yuwandake, on the other side is a walk to a superbly scenic observatory where you can view the "broccoli" landscape with 360 degrees of simple nature."

"OMG!! Unbelievable view!! I canโt believe this is not advertised. It was the highlight of our trip. 360 degree views of the whole island once you walk up the steps to the observatory tower. Donโt be put off by the road leading to the spot and the path you walk up to the tower. It is sooooo worth it!! Just breathtaking and NOT to be missed!!"

"The trail to a shrine some two kilometers distant is quite rough. You will need boots. It is untouched forest and worth the effort."
