What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Yakushima Environmental Culture Village Center for its incredibly helpful and English-speaking staff, who provide essential information and assistance. The center is a valuable resource for obtaining bus passes and unique cedar souvenirs, though the exhibits are primarily in Japanese. The building's attractive design also adds to its appeal.
"It was a great place to start/end my Yakushima trip. Most of the things you would need would be here (bus pass, trailhead bus pass, information about bento, etc.) and the staff are very nice and can speak English. I think the small exhibit + video is worth the small fee, it is very educational; it is all in Japanese though, so make sure you have your translation app ready. They also have a very nice hiking map you can buy as a souvenir!"

"The building design attracts us to stop a while for taking photos. Inside is a tourist centre with a small souvenir shop, I found a nice handmade bookmark set made by a thin old cedar piece with a lovely little floral piece on top. It is only available in this shop."
