Reviews Summary

Visitors find Onogawa Hotaru Park to be a quaint and relaxing destination, especially during the Firefly Festival. While the firefly display can be magical, sightings can vary depending on weather conditions. The charming town atmosphere and local treats add to the overall positive experience, though some visitors noted fewer fireflies than expected due to rain or late season visits.

"Very quaint and relaxing"

A Romo

"I visited during the Firefly Festival to watch the fireflies. There were lights set up in the park from the bridge in front, but there were multiple routes from the center of the hot spring town, where the hotels are concentrated, to the bridge, so there wasn't really a specific route, so it was a good idea to check it out while it was still daylight.

Perhaps because it was a little late in the season, there weren't a ton of fireflies flying around, but you could still see them glowing and flying around. I think they were often in the dark areas on the mountain side."

"On July 6th, after our meeting, it was already 4 PM, so we thought, "What should we do?" We headed down Route 13 toward Yonezawa. "Maybe we should stop by Onogawa Onsen ♨!?" 😅😅
❈ Immediately after exiting the Kuriko Tunnel, a horde of monkeys 🐒 covered the entire road ♪😅😅
(They seemed to be taking advantage of the lack of cars 🚙 😁)

Security guards everywhere? ?
When we turned onto the last road, there were people there too!
"Shall we go? Shall we park?"
The car 🚙 was full, so we parked and walked! 🤨🤔😅

"Is there a festival going on in the city?!" 🤔
Security guards at every entrance on Main Street! 😅😅
There was a stage, a screen, matted seating, and plenty of stalls! There were also plenty of tables and chairs! 😊
It was right on time for the Firefly Festival💞! ♪😃😄
I was so surprised! 😱😅😅

We stopped by the restroom🚻, enjoyed some soft serve ice cream🍦, and visited the Showakan Museum before dark! So nostalgic! ♪😊
After buying some croquettes, minced meat, and a drink, we walked to the park, admiring the cat🐱 in the bay window, and crossed the bridge.

There was a crowd of people at the "bamboo🎍 lit up sculpture🔦"! There were two free foot baths🦶♨, so we sat there for a while♪😄😄

After it got dark🌃 and the crowds got too big, we found a stream in the forest,
"The Light of Fireflies💞"
Flash❌️ "People who didn't see the warning signs because it was dark" used their flashlights and smartphones📳 to light up their feet...💦
Can you even hear the angry voices⁉️
It had been a while since I took my kids to see fireflies in Kori Town! 😻💯
"Fireflies fly in abundance on hot, clear nights🌃."
Unfortunately, it was cloudy☁ that day!
