What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Shinjuku City Library is praised for its late operating hours and free Wi-Fi, making it a convenient spot for students and late-night workers. Visitors appreciate the English book selection and the modern ambiance. However, a common drawback is the scarcity of power outlets, and food/drink restrictions apply outside the cafe area.
"Good size library with some books and newspapers in English. Unfortunately the internet is very bad and all the window blinds are kept down so no natural light comes in. They are closed all Tuesdays in April and most Tuesdays in May."

"Didn't notice any big changes in today's visit, but mostly it makes no sense without a proper chronological system. Why is Google Maps nagging me again? Maybe more Korean books than I had previously noticed? Older stuff below:
Prefixing another notation because of my mistake. I misread the sign by the door as indicating they open at 9:45, but that's when they close at night. I thought I arrived after 9, but it must have been before.
Humoring Google Maps this time because the branch has been closed for major remodeling. Really didn't notice any major changes since before the remodeling. At this point in time I think there are only three Shinjuku branches with English books, and this is the second best selection. Original review follows.
Pretty impressive layout on the 7th floor of a fancy new building. I think this was the first time I've actually gotton inside, mostly because of the Covid-19 ruckus. English books are just to the right as you come in from the main entrance. Quite a good selection, better than the other branches of Shinjuku Public that I have visited. Covid-19 precautions at the middle level."

"Superior in every way."
