Planning Your Visit

Prepare for Water

Wadi Ghuweir is a lush canyon with a flowing stream. Be ready to get your feet wet! Waterproof shoes or sandals are recommended, as you'll be wading through shallow water for much of the hike. The water is generally ankle-deep, but can be refreshing on a warm day.

Timing is Key

While beautiful year-round, consider visiting in cooler months like October to April. Summer can be very hot. Starting early in the morning is crucial to avoid the midday sun and potential crowds, especially if you plan to hike the full 16km. Instagram

Reviews Summary

Wadi Ghuweir Trail is overwhelmingly praised as one of Jordan's most scenic and magical hikes, offering a surprising tropical oasis with towering canyons, lush greenery, and flowing water. Visitors love the unique landscape and the adventure of wading through the stream. Some find the trail markers challenging and certain sections require careful navigation.

"Just wow, if you’re in this area - don’t miss this hike, it’s one of the most scenic ones I ever did! You’ll be walking through the canyon, hanging gardens, palm trees, there’s a swing and a waterfall. You can go with a usual rental car all the way to the parking lot and start the hike directly from there along the water. Black and red arrows mark the way (though not always easy to find). Sometimes you have to search twice for the right passage - especially in the first part of the trail (which is not soo scenic - but trust me, it gets more and more beautiful). If you try to keep close to the water - it’s the easiest to find the right way. We went to the waterfall and back which took us a little bit more than 6 hours at moderate pace with break, lunch and pictures. For this you won’t need a guide!!!
Because we saw a lot of people walking back before finding the waterfall: It’s approximately 1h walk from the part where the big rock is stuck in the canyon.
There was water (at least in November) but never higher than the ankle. I brought a second pair of shoes with which I could wade through the parts with more water.
A bit before the waterfall, a guy was selling freshly brewed tea (basically in the middle of nowhere).
Nevertheless it’s not an easy hike - there are boulders, ladders and “ladders” you have to climb."

"In one word: Amazing!!!

Wadi Ghuweir is an amazing natural landmark and a must see in Jordan! It’s a good 3-5 hour hike; depending on your fitness.

You can arrange a transport if you wanna go one way or what we did - we turned around and hiked back."

"An Awesome 2 hour +2 hour back hiking to Green Oasis 💚 called Wadi Ghuweir .The time we reach there was nobody there and it makes the place even more mystical. Overall it's not hard have someone with you .There is one point requires some small technical move but not hard at all . Absolutely amazing .Visit Wadi Ghuweir on your way to famous Petra"
