What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Holy Ghost Cathedral as a historically significant and spiritually uplifting place. Its role as one of Kenya's first Catholic parishes is a major draw, offering a serene environment for worship and reflection. The communal singing during Mass, enhanced by on-screen lyrics, is frequently highlighted as a moving experience. While primarily a place of worship, its historical weight and welcoming atmosphere make it a notable landmark.
"Being the first Catholic parish in Kenya, this place is all about helping you strengthen your faith. Every day, you can join in Mass celebrations held three times on weekdays – in the morning, at 1:00 pm, and 5:00 pm. These moments aim to bring you closer to our Creator.
If you drop by during weekdays around noon, you'll find a special time dedicated to adoring the Holy Eucharist. It's a peaceful time to connect with your faith. And don't worry if you feel like you need a fresh start – the Sacrament of Penance is also available.
Right after that, there's a lunchtime Mass where you can continue your spiritual journey. It's a simple and welcoming place to grow in your connection with faith.
Moreover, the parish embraces an open-door policy, welcoming you to peacefully recite prayers at any time. Whether it's the Holy Rosary or a personal prayer, the parish provides a serene space for spiritual reflection and connection. It's a simple and inviting place to foster your faith. 💯"

"I visited for a 1 pm daily mass on a Friday. So happy to see 200-300 people there. The church magnifies the singing of the congregation; it’s so moving. Plus they put the lyrics on TV screens so you can sing along in Swahili. They also screen the prayers and the responses so you can really be part of the service. I have been learning Swahili for the last three years and I still struggled a bit to understand the homily. But it didn’t matter. It’s a beautiful place and the mass is so uplifting, no matter the language"
