"Very impressive."

Alena Zvereva

"We were there with my daughter on 06.07.25, we really liked everything. The museum staff are great, everyone is polite and sensitive, they look after everyone, give advice, and guide. There was a tour guide, I don’t remember his name, a man of about 40, not tall, I really liked him, the man seems to understand the importance of his work and conducted the tour for us sensibly, in detail, as if for his own. Special thanks to him. And of course I want to say thank you to all the museum staff, maybe they don’t tell you every time about the importance of your work, but we came from far away and were impressed, it was especially useful for my daughter, she kept asking me for a long time about what and how. By the way, the feedback form with the QR code in my opinion is some kind of another crap, bureaucratic, I spat on the second page."

Ruslan Egorkyn

"I recommend it to everyone. A very interesting excursion, take warm clothes with you, it's cold there, in my opinion the guide Elena led the excursion, she told so interestingly, such facts from history that your hair stood on end, you will visit the quarries where 12,000 people resisted the fascists, 226 people survived, inside there are mass graves for 3,000 soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. Eternal memory."

The Historical Significance of Adzhimushkay

The Adzhimushkay Quarries are a profound memorial to one of the most harrowing episodes of World War II on the Crimean front. During the Battle of Crimea in 1942, Soviet soldiers and civilians sought refuge in these vast underground limestone quarries. Facing overwhelming Nazi forces, they endured a brutal siege for over two months, holding out against starvation, thirst, and constant bombardment. This desperate defense, though ultimately ending in immense loss, became a symbol of unwavering courage and sacrifice. The site serves as a stark reminder of the human cost of war and the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit. Reddit

Within the quarries, the scale of the defense is palpable. Approximately 12,000 people took refuge, with only about 226 survivors. The underground museum and the quarry tunnels themselves are a testament to their struggle. Visitors can walk through the very spaces where these defenders lived, fought, and ultimately perished. The experience is often described as deeply moving and emotionally impactful, leaving a lasting impression on those who visit. Reddit

Visiting Adzhimushkay is more than just a historical tour; it's a pilgrimage. The mass graves within the quarry, holding the remains of around 3,000 soldiers, are a solemn focal point. It’s a place that encourages reflection on the sacrifices made for freedom and peace.
