Reviews Summary

Tad Katamtok is a breathtaking waterfall, particularly stunning during the rainy season with its powerful flow and vibrant surroundings. While access to the base has become difficult due to overgrowth, the main elevated viewing area offers spectacular, unobstructed views. It's a highly recommended stop for nature lovers and photographers exploring the Bolaven Plateau. TikTokReddit+1

"TAD KATAMTOK and XEKATAM are one and the same thing. This is the correct location of the viewing area. In years past there was a poster to indicate the site. As of July 2022, this no longer exists. The turn off is approximately 2 km East of the bridge, and next to a large Banyan tree. Prior to Covid, the track continued along the edge of the cliff face. It is now overgrown with jungle. The small viewing area is only a few meters from the large tree. This is currently the only location where you get an unobstructed look at the waterfall. Unfortunately, due to the forest growth in the distance, you can’t see the full waterfall (from top to bottom). The best viewing of the waterfall is in the rainy season, when the water is in full flow and the surrounding jungle is amazingly green and vibrant. Note: In previous years there was a stairway down to the base of the falls, but this no longer exists.
Safe travels,
Mega."

"July 2022: the first picture is the view and the amount of water you can expect at the start of rainy season in July. I've been here 4 years ago at the end of the rainy season, in October 2018, at the time this pin didn't exist and GoogleMaps wouldn't accept adding new pins and roads in Laos. As you can see in the second picture, the view was slightly different back then but the water level definitely higher. The way into the jungle wasn't cleared back then and still isn't except for a couple hundred meters long trail that still leads nowhere and without a trace of any stairways either. So as of now if you want to have a view of this waterfall from the base you only have 2 options: either bring a drone or make your way through the river from the bridge 2km downstream (where the original pin was added by locals many years ago). Still is a great waterfall to view and to listen it's sound echoing in the lush pristine jungle that surrounds it."

"Great view of the waterfall. Not sure if it’s accessible closer than the picture I have put along with this. Our motorbike was fully loaded so never went off to explore. Worth stopping and checking out if you’re passing by. Picture also taken in the dry season"
