What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views from Pha Poak Viewpoint, calling the scramble and ladder climb a fun adventure. While the entrance fee is minimal, finding the trailhead can be a bit of a treasure hunt. Some note the ladders' sturdiness, advising caution.
"Great scramble type hike. The ladders are definitely a lot more sturdy than they look but be conscious you have to be comfortable with climbing up rocks with uneven surfaces. The top views are gorgeous and you get a different view from each side. It says on a sign you have to pay 20,000kip but the sign is nearly fallen down and no one was there to request payment. Enjoy!!"

"It’s a lovely climb and scramble up to the top, with beautiful views across the town and towards the karsts.
The entrance is a bit tricky, take the track next to the Black Pearl restaurant (it’s signposted and has a banner). That track leads to a newly built guesthouse but as you go through the gate turn immediately right and pass between the fence and a newly planted hedge (again there is a banner). Cross the field, through the 3 bar bamboo gate and between two huts. Across another field and when you meet the forest turn left and follow the edge of the field. The entrance to the start of the hike is approximately 150m on the left, just inside the forest."

"Fun to go just out of town, wander through some rice paddies and then scramble up a little mountain, sometimes on wooden ladders others just through the rocks. It has a nice view of the city and you can see the hot air balloons as they takeoff and land."
