Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Latvian War Museum for its free admission, extensive collections spanning multiple wars, and its crucial role in preserving history and reminding people of Latvia's struggles for independence. The emotional impact of the exhibits is frequently noted, making it a significant and thought-provoking experience. While most displays are bilingual, a few older sections may have limited English translations.

"Time goes by, and people forget. This place is a stark reminder of the suffering Latvia and other Baltic countries endured on the road to independence. In my opinion, this is one of the best war museums in Eastern Europe. It does a great job of telling the story. Which is so important, considering how much time has passed... many visitors aren't old enough to remember the atrocities that were perpetrated on the Latvian people. This museum keeps history alive. It's a must see! It's not easy to see, but it is important to remember. I guarantee, it will have an emotional impact on you!"

"I have almost got tired of seeing the story of the war museum either here or in Estonia. Simply, Russia is always involved in every single war to seize any resources. Still, it is necessary to gain insight about history so it will not repeat, to further appreciate people who died in your stance for freedom. What I like about this museum is that the first room describes the army's medical aid, which is for sure vital in a war. Like when you play the game, the healer is the ace in your garrison.
Anyway, the ticket is free, and you will be welcomed by a real soldier at the welcome desk."

"• Free entrance.
• We spent 2,5-3 hours for the whole experience.
• Huge collection of war throughout time. I have never seen such a big representation of WW1.
They also display older times than WW1, display WW2, Ukrainian war and more.
• 98% is displayed in both Latvian and English language options.
• The buildings atmosphere itself is impressive with care for visitors incl. Elevator 🛗 for people with walking disabilities.
• Free storage room for jackets and backpacks with lock and keys. 🎒
• Bathrooms nice and clean
• Staff welcoming and helpful

Only note for improvement:
Some displays eg. The century of 1800th room, does not display ENG translations and some other minor in size exposition displays."
