Many appreciate its easy accessibility and the option to explore the riverside via stairs. While the view is universally lauded, clear weather is crucial for the best experience.
"Not much needs to be said about Emperor’s View, the name speaks for itself!! We parked in the free lot next to a lovely school (what a peaceful spot that must be to study!) and walked up to the viewpoint. The view is truly majestic, overlooking the wide Gauja River in Gauja National Park.
The Russian Tsar Alexander II visited Sigulda in 1862. Since then this viewing point is called the Emperor’s Chair, because the Emperor of Russia was attracted by the splendid scenery that opened over the River Gauja Valley.
After enjoying the panorama, I highly recommend taking the stairs down to the riverside for a walk or even a bike ride. Just make sure to wear proper shoes for the terrain and bring mosquito spray. A beautiful spot, well worth the stop. Highly recommended!!"
