What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Drakensberg's breathtaking, paradise-like landscapes and incredible hiking opportunities, with many calling it a must-visit. However, some find the roads challenging, especially for standard vehicles, and note that trail marking can be poor, leading to potential disorientation. The Chain Ladder hike is described as both exhilarating and scary.
"The first snow of the year for the Drakensberg amd we decide to go to the Tugela falls. The road there is in a terrible state and we had a SUV. It was so bad that we thought we would not make it to the car park. When we got there we started our walk and after 2hrs it was cold i mean there was snow allover and our feet were wet and we pushed on for the falls. The chains is closed for maintenance so we walked up the gorge...what a treacherous path. Finally when we got to the falls we stayed for a short while as to not get caught in a snow storm or rain. I strongly suggest you get a good 4x4 vehicle and check the weather reports."
