What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Kaunas Choral Synagogue is recognized as the city's sole functioning synagogue and an important historical site with notable Neo-Baroque architecture. While some visitors found the interior less impressive and encountered issues with donation requests, others highlight its profound significance for Lithuanian Jewish history and its role as a place of worship.
"This is the only surviving and functioning synagogue in Kaunas. It was built in 1870. It is truly impressive."

"Saw this on our way to somewhere else and decided to pop in and have a look..
Wr are always really interested to discover more about Jewish culture in the countries we visit.
Unfortunately this was a big disappointment. The caretaker was quite rude. We were asked for a 5 Euro "donation" per person. It did feel quite aggressive and a scam to demand money for visiting somewhere that is very rundown and definitely not a proper museum. There is VERY little to see here.
Will definitely not be visiting again"

"A nice Neo Baroque building in Kaunas) One of two existing synagogues in Lithuania. It looks quite good as an architectural monument. There is a rich interior but it's not an amazing tourist attraction. You can freely visit it if you've never been to synagogue. On the other hand, it plays a large role in everyday life of Jewish people in Kaunas. It is important that a synagogue has remained after WW2 and has been working ever since."
