What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the unparalleled views of Pangong Lake and the magical night sky, highlighting the warm hospitality of hosts like Tenzing. While amenities are basic, with limited hot water and electricity, the natural beauty and unique experience are consistently rated as outstanding. Some note that the food takes time to digest due to the altitude.
"One of the better places to stay between Lukung and Spangmik. It is a family run business. Serves good quality food and resting place. The owner Tenzing, knows how to assemble a motorbike so you can take help from him in car and bike fixing if needed. He's a gem when it comes to hosting his guests. Tenzing will provide you one bucket of hot water in the morning and that's all the hot water you'll get per room, without extra charge. Not much hot water is available here. The tents and the cottages, both are good to stay. I stayed in the cottage. It protects from outside cold at night.
This place doesn't get much electricity and mobile coverage is limited to BSNL. That is weak too.
If you spend the night here, then wake up early and enjoy the walk along the lake when it's not crowded. If you have an evening here, then enjoy the colorful evening sky.
Hack: If your shoes have gotten wet while reaching here from Nubra valley via Shyok, then you can dry them above the tent/cottage, by placing them tilted on the roof for the night. If it doesn't rain, they'll dry up very fast. A couple of hours in the morning sun will do it too. ;)"

"Our experience in Pangong was more than incredible. The view of the lake made us forget all our fatigue. In the night we went out in the dark to watch the Milkyway, and the experience is inexplicable. It was the most beautiful night sky anyone of us could ever witness. About Highland camps, our cottage was named as Blue Sheep, and the room was small, yet comfortable, clean washroom. Being set in a place like Pangong, where it is not easy to survive, the place has maintained its charms. The food was served hot to us and was decent as well. However, I would suggest to eat less in the night, no matter how tasty the food is, because the food takes time to digest because of thin air in the atmosphere. If possible, carry an oxygen spray with you if you think you would struggle to breathe at a place such as Pangong. Overall, the experience was out of the world and it is certainly a dreamy site at sunrise."
