What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Luon Cave is praised for its unique natural beauty, offering a serene lagoon accessible via a picturesque cave passage. Visitors enjoy the bamboo boat rides and kayaking, though some reviews mention unprofessional staff interactions and crowded conditions. The scenic karst landscapes are a consistent highlight.
"The place is undoubtedly beautiful—one of the first stops during the Ha Long Bay cruise. From here, visitors have the option to ride in bamboo boats through narrow limestone formations, which is a unique and scenic experience. Kayaking is also available for those who prefer to paddle on their own.
However, I am giving only two stars—not because of the location, but due to the disappointing attitude of the local officials at this spot. One of our guests accidentally dropped their iPhone into the water after a bamboo boat driver carelessly collided with their kayak. After the ride, we politely asked the staff if they could help recover the phone. If the area was a non-dive zone, that could have been explained respectfully. Unfortunately, the response we received was rude and unprofessional.
Tourism plays a key role in the development of countries like Vietnam. Local authorities and tourism staff should understand the importance of treating international visitors with respect and basic courtesy. It’s also concerning that no one on-site could communicate in even basic English, which added to the frustration.
Incidents like this reflect poorly on the tourism department. Authorities should train and monitor their staff more effectively to avoid such experiences for future travelers."

"This place in Ha Long Bay is a beautiful and crowded spot, popular for kayaking and small boat rides. You’ll pass under a mountain through a natural tunnel, which is a unique experience. You have to choose between kayaking or the boat ride. The area is scenic but busy with tourists. They give you a floating mobile pouch to protect your phone from water, which is helpful. Keep your electronics safe as splashes are common. The water is calm, and the whole ride is peaceful despite the crowd. Worth visiting if you enjoy water activities in nature."

"We took a cruise to Ha Long Bay from Hanoi, which we booked through Klook before arriving in Vietnam. It was totally worth it and exceeded our expectations.
The journey included a 2.5-hour bus ride to Ha Long Bay with two refreshment stops - one for 5 minutes and another for 30 minutes. The longer stop had supermarkets with options for juices, fruits, and other snacks, which was convenient.
Once we reached the bay, we were taken aboard the cruise and served dinner. The oysters and prawns were absolutely amazing - definitely a highlight of the meal.
The cruise took us to a beautiful beach where we had the option to swim or hike for 45 minutes. After that, we continued to explore the spectacular caves, which truly felt like natural wonders. The cave exploration involves quite a bit of walking, so be prepared for that.
What to Bring:
- Swimwear
- Sunscreen
- Comfortable walking shoes for the caves
This was an amazing experience that I would highly recommend. The combination of scenic cruising, delicious food, beach activities, and cave exploration makes for a perfect day trip from Hanoi."
