Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the exhibition for its authentic preservation and immersive historical experience, offering a unique glimpse into Macau's past. While some find it a quiet and reflective visit, others wish for more interactive elements. Overall, it's a highly recommended stop for those interested in local history.

"We went here at the golden hours 4pm and took some nice photos alone the street. The Museum is small, not crowded, with AC, free to visit."

Matthew Tang

"The Traditional Pawn Shop Museum is the 7th attraction on the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) 'Footsteps in the Historic Centre' self-walking tour which allows visitors to explore parts of the UNESCO World Heritage area as well as other interesting historic and heritage places around the City Centre.

The 'Footsteps in the Historic Centre' walk starts at Avenida da Praia Grande, making several stops at Senado Square before continuing north to attractions along Ave. Almeida Ribero, starting with the Traditional Pawn Shop Museum.

This museum (free entry) is located at the historic Tak Seng Pawn Shop building, which was owned by merchant Kou Ho Neng. The building architecture is preserved with upstairs vault rooms, safes and floors where pawned items where held. While there is little to actually see within, this is a neat property and provides glimpse into what a pawn shop might have been like in the 19th and early 20th century. Opening hours are 10.30am to 7pm daily (closed on Mondays).

Allow 10-20 minutes for a quick stop at the Pawn Shop Museum. Then visit the Tung Sin Tong Clinic next door before making your way to other attractions that make up the 'Footsteps in the Historic Centre' self-walking tour."

Brad

"Very interesting museum to get an experience of whats happening at the back of a pawn shop! Especially one that has a building of over 8 floors with all the safes"
