Reviews Summary

Koi Kei Bakery is celebrated for its delicious and authentic Macanese snacks, particularly its almond cookies and Portuguese egg tarts, with many praising the generous free samples and travel-friendly packaging. However, some visitors have encountered issues with staff knowledge regarding allergens, leading to potential safety concerns.

"The Macanese egg tarts are a must eat when in Macau, and my favourite egg tart bakeshop is Ko Kei Bakery. There are several stores around, but this one caught my attention because they offer a promo of 10% discount for 12 pieces of takeout tarts. They also pack it for you good for travelling.

There are several salespeople who will invite you to do a free taste of the different snacks they taste which is good to help you know if you'll enjoy them before buying them.

They accept cash as payment. You can access this store on your way to Ruins of St
Paul."

"The Portuguese egg tarts are a must try here. Not too sweet. The pastry is flaky and buttery. Served warm so had to cool down a little. Really enjoyed. Also bought some of the popular Almond cookies as a souvenir."

"This is a special bakery. Yes, of course everything is delicious and tasty. But, I love that they know their products are so good that nearly every box of products for sale has a tupperware container of the same product next to it for you to try it yourself, to your heart's content. I can't imagine a better expression of confidence in your product! And yes, their goods really are that delicious. The products are, like Macau, a combination of Chinese and Portuguese flavours and traditions that come together, which result in quite a collection of unique flavours and items. Many of them are nut-based (almonds, walnuts, cashews, etc) with seaweed or other flavours. They make these products on site and you can often watch them at work (see photographs attached). They also offer a small selection of salty or savoury goods (something which looked a lot like jerky for example), but it wasn't suited to me so I cannot comment. My favourite item by far, however, were the classic Portuguese egg tarts. I've been spoiled now, because no where else has made them anywhere near as good and I can't bring myself to eat them again! They are served warm, and they are perfect. In fact, I consider this to be SO good, and this bakery so special, that I don't think you can do a trip to Macau without a stop in here. It is a must that you won't regret."
