What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the serene atmosphere and unique cultural experience of the Japanese Village Bukit Tinggi, especially its tranquil garden and traditional architecture. Some note that certain aspects, like the koi pond, might not be as well-maintained as in the past, and the surrounding Colmar Tropicale can feel a bit dated.
"Visited the Japanese Garden at Bukit Tinggi on a weekday, and it turned out to be the perfect escape! The weather was beautiful with a light breeze and just the right amount of sunshine. It took us about an hour to get there from Kuala Lumpur by cab (booked via the InDrive app, which cost us RM 70).
The entrance fee to Bukit Tinggi was RM 14 per person. The area is well-signposted, so it’s easy to explore on your own. After a short climb up a few steps, we arrived at the serene Japanese Village.
It was truly breathtaking—the sound of nature, butterflies fluttering around, colorful flowers, and lush greenery all around. The gentle sound of water flowing from the ponds added a calming, almost meditative touch. I genuinely couldn’t get enough of the atmosphere.
There’s a spot where you can rent traditional Japanese robes and take pictures, which adds to the experience. The whole place was very well maintained—clean, neat, and peaceful.
We wrapped up our visit with a quick stop at the little souvenir shop, which also sells bottled water and a few drinks. After that, we caught the free shuttle bus to the nearby French Village. Just a note—the bus isn’t very frequent, so keep an eye on the schedule.
All in all, a memorable visit and one I’d happily do again!"

"Small but lovely Japanese garden. There is a souvenir shop, Japanese restaurant and small hut for kimono rental. Unfortunately the Tatami spa is closed perhaps due to limited patrons. Nice environment and closed to nature."

"Don’t know la this place is Japanese village or Japanese garden, majority of the facilities/buildings are abandoned. Basically only the plants + 1 small souvenir shop at entrance + 1 building they renting kimono are operating, all other things were abandoned or closed. Looking at the crowded, there are quite many people, this volume of crowded should be able to sustain the service but just don’t know why it’s getting abandoned."
