What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Stulang Laut Waterfront is a key transit point with ferry services to Batam and some entertainment options like The Zone. While the waterfront views are pleasant and parking is ample, the ferry terminal experience is often criticized for poor management, delays, and lack of amenities.
"Parking space are very huge, small shopping mall inside Berjaya. Way to the ferry terminal are easy.
My experience comments:
Every time ferry delay, need wait more than 30 to 40 minutes. Escalate not working very not convenient.
Need bring a jacket when inside ferry, the air-conditioning very cold."

"Terribly managed ferry terminal. Lack of seats, constant delays with departure timings and best of all escalators heading down to the ferries have been down for many many months but the management has no initiative to fix or address them despite sending in emails to them. They are giving Malaysia a very bad name and I hope everyone do start channelling these complaints to MOT next."

"I booked my ticket online through easybook.com and needed to go to the Berjaya Waterfront counter to claim it. The queue was confusing. I noticed that the online booking counter was closed, so I approached a lady at another counter, but after queuing for 20 mins, she simply pushed me aside, saying that online ticket claims were at the next counter. Her counter was nearly empty, while the other line was long.
There was one man and one woman claiming multiple tickets—over ten passports at once—which jammed up the entire queue. They should have processed large bookings separately. I was almost late for my ferry despite arriving early.
Initially, they wanted to push me to the next available ferry, and the counter lady said that I was 'late', which would delay me by another 2 hours. However, I made a fuss due to their mistakes, so they allowed me in.
Additionally, the seaport tax can only be paid in cash RM23, which was quite inconvenient."

Navigating the Ferry Terminal
When booking ferry tickets, especially online, be prepared for a process that involves claiming your physical ticket at the counter. This can lead to long queues, particularly during peak travel times. Some users have experienced issues with ticket claims, with staff sometimes directing them to the wrong counter or processing large groups inefficiently, causing delays. It's recommended to arrive early if you have an online booking and to be patient. The seaport tax of RM23 is payable only in cash, so ensure you have it on hand.
Despite these challenges, the ferry service itself is a crucial link. TikTok videos showcase the boarding process and the ferries, like MV Putri Anggreni and Citra Batam, highlighting the journey as a viable and often preferred alternative to flights for shorter trips.
Entertainment at The Zone
The go-karting is highlighted as an exciting option, providing an adrenaline rush in a controlled indoor environment. Similarly, the rage room allows visitors to smash objects as a form of stress relief. These attractions are particularly appealing to younger travelers and those looking for something different to do. Social media content often showcases the fun and energetic atmosphere of these activities, making them a draw for visitors.

This waterfront setting is complemented by the Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, which itself boasts views of both Singapore and Johor Bahru, making it an attractive option for accommodation. The promenade along Stulang Laut is a place to relax and enjoy the maritime atmosphere. While not a bustling commercial hub for dining, the visual appeal of the waterfront is a significant part of the Stulang Laut experience.
