Reviews Summary
Bukit Kopungit is widely praised as an easy and accessible hike, perfect for beginners and families. Visitors love the rewarding summit views, especially during sunrise and sunset, and appreciate that it's a free activity. Some find the Japanese Cave less maintained, but the overall experience is considered refreshing and enjoyable for casual exercise.
"I had never tried hiking before, so I didn’t have any expectations. I went in the afternoon, hoping to catch the sunset. I honestly thought I’d be exhausted—but surprisingly, it was an easy hike. Even kids could make it to the top.
I took a Grab to the starting point and began the climb. It took me less than an hour to reach the summit. There are a few slopes that could be slippery when wet, so I wouldn’t recommend going if it’s raining.
I could’ve just gone back down right after, but I ended up exploring different routes and stayed for about two hours. There were a lot of locals hiking—some with friends, others with family. It seems like a popular spot for both morning and evening exercise.
I had a hard time locating the Japanese cave, only to find it wasn’t well maintained. Still, the overall experience was great. The view at the top isn’t exactly breathtaking, but there’s something refreshing about being up there.
Overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a light hike or a casual workout in the morning or late afternoon."

"Came here during sunset and really worth it. It is an impromptu trip so i just wear my "mall outfit" but still ok. The trail not extreme and kids friendly. Plus it free! From one side you can see the sea and airport view. And the other side you can see akinabalu view. There are people selling canned drink at the top.🤣 Hoping no one litter ya. There are 2 way to get here, 1 from the main gate and one from Aeropod."

"Small hill with quite a number of trails. Trails were considered well maintained too and had a few signs here and there. Can see both sunrise and sunset but I think Bkt Botak still has the best sunrise view. This hill is quite easy to access and trails are quite straightforward as it can somehow end in a loop. Went to the Japanese Cave but it gave a scary feeling somehow haha. Overall okay."
