What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Taman Connaught Night Market is celebrated for its immense variety of food and budget-friendly prices, offering a vibrant, evolving culinary scene. While many enjoy the lively atmosphere and unique finds, some visitors note a lack of vegetarian options, potential repetition in stall offerings, and occasional issues with perceived value for money on certain items. Parking can also be a significant challenge.
"I’ve been visiting this night market for many years, but this is the first time I’m writing about it. Over time, I’ve watched it evolve — from stalls selling Hong Kong-inspired snacks, to Taiwan’s street food craze, then the Japanese and Korean waves, and now even influences from China. It’s fascinating how this pasar malam reflects changing food trends and pop culture through the years.
Many of the stalls here have gone viral on TikTok, with owners adding their own twist and creativity to their food and art. It’s a lively, colorful market full of sights, sounds, and scents that perfectly capture the essence of Malaysia’s night life.
I went with my girlfriend yesterday, and we had a great time exploring the variety of local delicacies and cuisines. We even tried Japanese Wagyu — though to be honest, it wasn’t the best. It tasted like thinly sliced mixed cuts layered together with Wagyu tallow for flavor. Not exactly authentic, but still an interesting experience.
Drinks, however, were spot-on. We had some refreshing local favorites like mata kucing and others. Overall, it’s a fun night market to visit once in a while for food, vibes, and people-watching — just be prepared for the parking challenge!"

"If you’re in KL on a Wednesday definitely head here! A busy atmosphere and great prices. So many food stalls with some clothing and accessories stalls too.
(Only thing is I felt there wasn’t a lot of vegetarian options)"

"This market is only open one day a week. It's extremely long, but the path is easy to follow. I've been to many night markets and food markets but this particular location had a very foul smell that came in waves. It was almost unbearable. I kept trying to pin point where it was coming from but was left dumbfounded. The majority of the food is Chinese. They also have vendors selling just fruit or drinks. Some even have items for your pets or are doing tarot readings. Give yourself 2-4 hours here. There's a lot to see and try here."
