Reviews Summary

Matang Wildlife Centre offers a glimpse into Sarawak's native wildlife, with orangutans being a major draw. While some visitors praise the serene natural surroundings and the animals' care, others point out that the facilities are in need of significant upgrades and investment. The affordable entry fee for locals is a plus, but non-Malaysian visitors might find it steep given the current condition of some enclosures.

"A place that has seen better days. Would not recommend Matang Wildlife Centre to anyone until significant improvements are made.
It was a disappointing experience at Matang Wildlife Centre. The facilities are dilapidated, with rotting wood and rusty cages, making it a sad and cruel environment for the animals. The entrance fees for non-Malaysians are steep (RM20/adult, RM7/child) considering the poor conditions. It's not worth the trip. This place is in desperate need of proper sponsorship and investment to improve the conditions and care for the animals. Instead of collecting entry fees, they would be better off collecting donations to improve the centre and provide a better life for the animals. I hope the fees collected are used to improve the safety and wellbeing of the animals. We only ended up here because we missed the last entry to Kubah National Park (note: last entry is at 11am)."

"Places is very run down, need a proper upgrade. For RM10 is cheap but you pay for what you get a few wildlife’s."

Emile Bong

"A short drive from the city brings you into contact with one of our most famous inhabitants the ‘ Orang Utan’. Other creatives native to Sarawak the hornbill, porcupine, bear and alligator can also be found if you follow the timber trail, a popular stop for students visiting from Singapore."
