Reviews Summary

Visitors find Pulau Kukup National Park a worthwhile nature escape, praising its unique mangrove boardwalk and wildlife viewing opportunities. However, some note issues with cleanliness and potential delays with boat services. The park offers a good glimpse into a vital ecosystem, though accessibility and monkey encounters require attention.

"Worth the Visit

Even though it took quite a while to reach from Johor Bahru, it was definitely worth the trip.
You can walk through the mangrove forest on a wooden pathway and see some wildlife such as monkeys, mudskippers, monitor lizards, and crabs.

We stayed for more than an hour. The entire pathway is made of wood.
There weren’t many informational boards, but we were told it wasn’t the right season for that.
The forest wasn’t very clean, unfortunately. Considering it’s supposed to be a national park, it was disappointing to see trash scattered around.

We took a Grab in the morning and returned by bus. The bus to Pontian isn’t very frequent, so plan accordingly. I’ve shared the bus schedule (June 2025). The bus from Pontian to Johor Bahru runs every hour.

Tickets:
It was quite difficult to figure out where to buy the tickets, as no one seemed to understand us—not even at the International Jetty Office.
To purchase tickets, you need to go to Pejabat Taman Negara Johor Pulau Kukup.
For foreigners, the entrance fee is RM20 per person, and the boat ride back costs RM15 per person (cash only)."

Michele Drigo

"We came early and get the ticket at the ticket office. Office only open at 9 am. Suppose we can go to the park by boat arranged by the office.

Entry ticket cost RM5 per pax.
Boat fee is RM10 round trip.

A bit disappointed that we waited until 1030am for the boat to arrive. It is a waste of time.

Anyway, when we arrived at the park, the staff explained to us safety measure and area that we can walk around the park. The trail is very easy about 2km and a little bit more.

There were about lesa than 10 pax during the boat ride. But we walked on our own pace.

At the end of trail, when we wanted to go to the jetty, there are a group of monkeys at the walking trail. Please be careful because the monkeys are aggresive. Take care of your own belongings.

We hope the park will arrange for boat more efficiently in the future. It is a clean and well maintained park. So, hopefully more visitors and tourist will come."

"A good place for the nature lovers, but might be boring for others.
Not suitable for those with leg problem, on wheelchair and senior citizens
The boat ride and view from the top of the tower was awesome"
