What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tanjung Rhu Beach is widely praised for its serene, clean, and family-friendly atmosphere, offering a peaceful escape with calm waters and soft sand. While some visitors note occasional debris and the need for vigilance regarding wildlife, the beach's natural beauty and tranquility make it a highly recommended spot for relaxation and enjoying stunning sunsets.
"Pantai Tanjung Rhu is without a doubt one of the calmest and cleanest beaches we visited on Langkawi Island. It’s truly a hidden gem — peaceful, scenic, and ideal for families looking to enjoy the sea without the noise and crowds found at some of the other more commercial beaches.
The water was calm and clear, making it perfect for our kids to swim safely and confidently. Even my wife, who prefers quieter spots, thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing dip. What stood out most was the serenity of the place — no buzzing jet skis or loud boat engines, just the sound of gentle waves and nature. That’s quite rare for Langkawi!
That said, we did notice that some floating debris, like old fishing nets and bits of plastic, were drifting in the water, which was a bit disappointing considering how beautiful and peaceful the setting is. Hopefully, more efforts can be made to preserve this natural treasure.
We spent 3 hours just soaking in the sun, swimming, and playing. The kids had a blast building sandcastles and playing near the shore while we all relaxed on the soft sand.
Tips for future visitors:
• Bring enough water and snacks for the kids.
• Sand toys are a great idea for little ones — they’ll be entertained for hours.
• Don’t forget a beach blanket or mat to sit and relax on.
• And of course, pack sunscreen and hats — the sun can be strong, especially midday.
• Be prepared with a towel or large cover-up, as there are no changing cabins.
Tanjung Rhu gave us one of our most peaceful and memorable beach days in Langkawi. Highly recommended for families or anyone seeking a quiet, natural escape — and we truly hope it stays clean and preserved for everyone to enjoy."

"A really beautiful beach but it comes with a warning: ⚠️ while I was there today I saw a snake go into someone's backpack. It was a little one and I don't know if it was venomous. Just keep in mind to keep your zipper closed on your bags if you're sitting on the sand to prevent an unwanted guest in your bag.🐍
Otherwise, you can rent chairs and umbrellas and kakays and there's a coffee shop and food shops right there. Beach is clean and very nice!"

"I was here 15 years ago and recently returned with the same expectations, but sadly, the seawater didn’t appear as blue as I remembered. I noticed a cement factory nearby, which might explain the change 🤷♂️. While it feels less pristine now, it’s still an enjoyable spot, especially since this stretch is less crowded, likely due to the long stretch of private beach nearby that’s closed to the public. If you're up for a walk, head further northeast towards Pantai Hujung, you’ll likely find a more secluded beach area to enjoy all to yourself."
