What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking, expansive views of the tea plantation, calling it a must-visit for its scenic beauty. However, some find the cafe's offerings overpriced and note hygiene issues with flies, while the drive can be challenging. The tea factory tour's strong smell is also a point of consideration.
"The viewpoint of this plantation offers a splendid view of hills covered in tea and surrounded by beautiful nature. We were lucky to visit on a sunny day with cool, relaxing air. To reach the top, you need to climb over 200 steps. There are proper stairs, but the climb can be a bit challenging if you have low stamina or if you're elderly or have mobility issues.
Afterward, we enjoyed hot tea and cakes at the cafe. We had the strawberry cheesecake and carrot cake. Honestly, they weren’t the best. I’ve had better elsewhere so I wouldn’t recommend them, especially considering both cakes cost over RM30. The cafe should also work on improving hygiene, as there were flies everywhere.
We skipped the tea processing factory tour because my family found the strong smell of the tea leaves overwhelming and slightly suffocating.
The worst part of visiting the plantation was the drive. The roads are narrow and winding, and some drivers sped without honking at blind spots. We were honestly praying we wouldn’t end up in a collision."

"Cool spot to get to know about how tea is planted and then processed for home consumption.
Theres a little café where you can order some food. The strawberry short cake was incredible with the tea, both being ingredients locally produced."

"Been to this tea farm a few times and always enjoy the visit. The scones are really nice! I went on a weekday so it wasn’t too crowded. Also tried the hiking trail, it’s an easy and relaxing route with beautiful views."

The BOH Tea Legacy
This historical significance adds a layer of depth to the visitor experience. While the breathtaking landscapes are the primary draw, knowing you're walking through a place with such a long-standing legacy can enhance your appreciation. The plantation's continuous operation over decades speaks to its enduring appeal and importance in the region.
For those interested in the journey from leaf to cup, the tea processing facility offers a glimpse into this tradition. Although the smell can be intense, it's a testament to the active production that has been ongoing for generations.
Navigating the Scenic Drive
Many visitors recommend arriving early to avoid the peak traffic and potential congestion on these routes. Planning your departure and arrival times can significantly impact the stress level of your journey. Consider using GPS navigation to find the most efficient route, but always prioritize safety over speed.
If you're not comfortable driving on such roads, hiring a local driver or joining a guided tour might be a more relaxed option. This allows you to enjoy the scenery without the added pressure of navigating the challenging terrain.
Cafe Experience: Views vs. Value
However, reviews suggest that while the location is idyllic, the cafe's offerings might not always meet expectations in terms of value and hygiene. Some visitors found the cakes to be overpriced and not particularly outstanding, with reports of flies being an issue.
It's a trade-off: you're paying for the unparalleled view as much as the food. If you're looking for a gourmet dining experience, you might be disappointed. But if you're content with a simple tea break accompanied by an incredible vista, it can still be a worthwhile stop.
