What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Antong Coffee Mill is praised for its rich history and authentic traditional coffee-making process, offering a nostalgic journey. Visitors love the unique espresso ice cream and the opportunity to purchase local coffee products. However, some find the cafe experience basic and the factory tour limited.
"I recently visited Antong Coffee Factory in Taiping, known as the oldest coffee mill in Malaysia. Overall, it was an interesting stop, especially for those who enjoy heritage-style attractions.
✅ What I Liked
Historic Charm
The factory still preserves its traditional wood-fire roasting setup. The old-style buildings, vintage machines, and photo spots give a nostalgic feel. It’s a nice place to learn about how traditional coffee was produced decades ago.
Coffee Aroma Everywhere
The moment you enter, you can smell freshly roasted coffee—very pleasant and atmospheric.
Product Variety
They offer many types of coffee products: white coffee, durian coffee, drip bags, civet coffee, etc. Good place to pick up souvenirs.
Espresso Ice Cream
One of the highlights—smooth, fragrant, and refreshing on a hot day.
⚠️ What Could Be Better
Limited Factory Experience
Although it’s a factory, you don’t get a full guided tour or detailed demonstration. Some production areas are not accessible.
Cafe Drinks Are Basic
Most drinks seem to be made from instant-style packets rather than barista-prepared fresh brews. Anyone expecting artisan coffee may feel underwhelmed.
Crowd & Parking
Can get quite crowded during weekends, and parking space is limited.
📝 My Opinion
Overall, Antong Coffee Factory is worth visiting if you enjoy history and want to learn about traditional Malaysian coffee culture. It’s more of an educational and souvenir-shopping stop rather than a premium café experience.
✅ Nice for:
Heritage lovers, families, casual tourists, souvenir shopping
❌ Not ideal for:
People expecting specialty café-style coffee or an in-depth factory tour
⭐ Rating: 7/10
A pleasant and culturally meaningful visit, but the café experience can be improved."

"We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our visit to Antong Coffee Museum, Malaysia’s oldest coffee mill. The place is not just about coffee, it’s like stepping into a mini time capsule filled with old machines, heritage buildings, and the aroma of freshly roasted beans. Pure heaven.
Of course, we had to try their famous Triple Shot Espresso Ice Cream and honestly, they weren’t exaggerating when they said it’s “the best coffee ice cream you’ll ever taste in your life.” We completely agree. Strong, creamy, bold and pure perfection in a cup. It was heavenly.
We also ordered the Antong Black Coffee, and it was excellent, rich and smooth. Pro tip: drink it without sugar to fully appreciate the flavour.
Right beside the café is the Sun Yat Sen Heritage House, where Dr. Sun Yat Sen himself once stayed and used as a base during his revolutionary movements in Malaya. It’s not every day you get to enjoy coffee next to actual history!
Overall, Antong Coffee Museum is a great stop whether you’re a coffee lover, history buff, or just curious traveller.

"This old coffee mill turned to tourist attraction is a praiseworthy effort. Interesting history regarding coffee making industry in Taiping. There's a free tour at the mill's muzium conducted in Mandarin for interested visitors. Visitors can shop many varieties of the house brand including a durian flavour coffee. The espresso ice cream is a must try especially on a hot day ... Thick and creamy coffee taste. 💦💦 There's a cafe where visitors can just relax with some refreshments. Visitors can take pictures with beautifully drawn murals 😁 Do visit this heritage site if you are in Taiping. 😎😎"
