Visitors find Taiping's street art to be a charming, albeit small and faded, discovery. While not as extensive as in other Malaysian cities, the hunt for these hidden murals offers a unique, rewarding experience for those who explore the old town's lanes. Some murals are quite faded and can be partially obscured by parked cars, requiring patience for viewing and photography.
"These wall murals are in the vicinity of Larut Matang Hawker Center but surprisingly, the 4 locals whom I had enquired from have no idea of its whereabout.
I was walking from the direction of Hotel Peking towards Jln Panggung Wayang when I saw a wall mural along a lane besides the said hotel. Took a shot and went further in the lane and I then noticed paintings which are rather faded, on closed shutters of shops along another lane. Cars were parked along them so blocking most views. Happy that I finally found them so snapped, snapped with selfies too."

"There are not many drawings if compared to the one in Penang or in Ipoh. However, you can still pay a visit since it won't consume much of your time."

The Elusive Art of Taiping
The ephemeral nature of the art is part of its appeal. Some murals are quite old and have lost much of their color, making them blend into the historic architecture. This also means that preservation is a concern for locals and visitors alike. While it might not be as extensive as other street art destinations, the quiet discovery of these hidden gems offers a unique and rewarding experience for those willing to wander and look closely.
Navigating Taiping's Streets
Be prepared for partially blocked views, as parked cars are a common sight along the streets where the murals are located. This means you might need to be patient or creative with your angles to capture good photographs. Asking locals for directions can be helpful, though their knowledge might be general, pointing you towards the vicinity rather than a specific artwork. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as you'll be doing a fair bit of walking and searching. :athletic_shoe:
