What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus is generally seen as a fun and convenient way to see the city's sights, especially from the open-top deck. While many enjoy the experience and the night tour, some travelers have expressed disappointment with seating policies and audio commentary clarity.
"Tried the KL Hop-On Hop-Off Bus, tickets bought via Klook and the voucher is valid for 30 days, which is quite convenient. The buses operate from 9am to 4pm, and you can hop on and off at any stop along the route. There are two routes — City and Garden, with a total of 26 designated stops. One full route takes about 2 hours, and the waiting time at each stop is roughly 20 minutes for the next bus.
We parked at Sungei Wang, went to the lobby and redeemed our tickets at the Hop-On Hop-Off kiosk by showing the Klook QR code — easy and smooth process. We managed to get seats on the rooftop, and there was English audio commentary explaining the landmarks and iconic buildings around KL, accompanied by classic P. Ramlee and Sudirman songs, which was a nice touch. There’s also a covered patio area at the back of the bus if you want to avoid the heat.
Tip: bring a cap and sunglasses as it can get hot. Overall, my friends and I really enjoyed the tour. Would definitely consider coming back to try the night tour next time."

"Enjoyed both the Hop-On Hop-Off Day tour and the KL Night tour. A great way to take in KL’s sights, with breezy weather and plenty of seating. Traffic was expected, and aside from a longer wait at Sungei Wang, everything ran smoothly.
However, the audio commentary could be improved. A multilingual headset option would make the ride more engaging, as the current single front speaker on the upper deck was difficult to hear and offered limited information.
Overall, a pleasant experience with potential for a more enriching tour."

"Very Disappointed.
The Seating Policy Ruined the Experience.
I had a very bad experience and feel I wasted my money. The entire purpose of a hop-on-hop-off bus is to see the city from the open-air deck. I was assigned a seat in the enclosed indoor section, and my view was completely obstructed.
For future travelers: I highly recommend buying tickets directly at the counter instead of on Klook, so you can specifically ask for an open-air seat. If you can't get one, it's honestly not worth the money.
To the service provider: You need to fix this. You should have clear, separate pricing tiers for the premium open-top seats versus the indoor seats. It's unfair to charge everyone the same price for such a drastically different (and poor) experience."

Navigating the Routes and Stops
It's important to note that while there are 26 stops, one planned stop (Stop 27) is currently unavailable as it awaits the full completion of the Merdeka 118 tower. The buses operate on a schedule with approximately 20-minute intervals at each stop, allowing for flexibility in your itinerary. Travelers often recommend starting at Sungei Wang Plaza, which serves as a key hub for boarding and ticket redemption.
For effective planning, it's beneficial to consult the official route map beforehand. This will help you identify the stops closest to your points of interest and strategize your hopping on and off. While a timetable for each stop isn't always readily available, understanding the approximate 20-minute wait time can help manage expectations.
Day vs. Night Tour Experience
The Night Tour, typically running from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, transforms the city into a dazzling spectacle. This tour is specifically designed to showcase Kuala Lumpur's illuminated skyline, iconic buildings lit up against the night sky, and the vibrant energy of its nightlife districts like Bukit Bintang. It's a popular choice for those wanting to experience the city's magical ambiance after dark.
Many visitors find value in experiencing both tours to get a complete picture of Kuala Lumpur. The day tour offers daytime sightseeing and shopping opportunities, while the night tour provides a romantic and visually stunning perspective of the city.
Maximizing Your Hop-On Hop-Off Experience
Don't forget essentials like sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses if you plan to sit on the upper deck during the day, as the sun can be intense. While the audio commentary provides information about landmarks, some find it difficult to hear. Bringing your own headphones and checking if a multilingual option is available could enhance this aspect. Finally, be patient with potential traffic delays, especially during peak hours, and enjoy the journey as a unique way to explore Kuala Lumpur.
