Reviews Summary
Visitors find the National Museum of Mauritania to be a compact and interesting cultural stop, showcasing the region's history and traditions. While exhibits are mainly in French and Arabic and the museum can get warm, its affordability and quick visit time make it a worthwhile addition to a Nouakchott itinerary.
"Today with my colleagues we went to visit National Museum...we were only visitors except delegation of Diplomats who were visiting the museum as the president of Czech Republic will soon visit here too. The exposition is nice but only in French and Arabic, many artefacts about local culture and archeology. Just to mention there is fee entrance 50 MRU per person. Otherwise we like that we were only tourist here. Thank you"

"Pretty cool museum showcasing the cultural history of Mauritania. Pay in cash only. Bathroom available. The exhibits were well-kept and interesting. You don't need a guide, although you might want one if you can't read Arabic or French as the written explanations rarely included English. It can get very hot inside as there is no air conditioning or fans. I was in and out in a comfortable 20-30 minute visit."

"Two floors with exhibitions both on the history of the region dating back to the first human presence as well as one on more modern times, wildlife, culture and tradition."
