"This is such a magical place, the car path is a bit tricky but doable and 100% worth it. Nicolas the local guide collects a small fee but he will make sure you see all the petroglyphs around and even the ones that he keeps discovering, as well as the beautiful pila del rey. Ask him to crack some of those delicious small coconuts as well πŸ₯₯"

"Wonderful tour through Nayarit Uncovered. There is a lovely man that takes care of the area & collects fees. He showed us some of his latest discoveries. An incredible place with many many petroglyphs. There is still so much there that is undiscovered. There are many theories about this place & the signs are just one…. Highly recommend to visit respectfully!"

"AKA Alta Vista, or Chacalan Petroglyphs. This pin is for the location of the actual petroglyphs, not the trail head. We are experienced hikers, but still recommend getting a local guide. We had the good fortune of engaging a local shaman who provided excellent insight. This can be arranged through Guayatours, a local tour provider with offices in Rincon de Guayabitos. The trail is fairly easy, with minimal elevation gain/loss, taking around 25 minutes each way. If you/your guide has a good 4x4 you can park much closer, only 10 minutes from the petroglyphs. The petroglyph age ranges from 1000-4000 years old. There are several worn but still legible interpretive signs along the trail, in both Spanish and English."
