What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Barra Vieja Beach is celebrated for its stunning sunsets and delicious local seafood, particularly 'pescado a la talla'. Visitors appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and the option to rent palapas for a full day of enjoyment. However, concerns about water quality due to potential contamination from sunken boats have been noted, leading some to advise caution with swimming.
"We stayed for a month at the diamond Beach club, every evening we would come to swim and see sunset, absolutely beautiful. The problem being 2 of my sons and my wife refused to go into the water because there would be brown like rust covering the water at times. My other son and me, didn't care we jumped in the waves had fun all the time. However the contractors rebuilding the hotels told us there are many boats that sank in the sea from the hurricane, and there giving off a lot of bad substances from degrading. When we arrive back to the states my son who was in the sea was sick they tested his blood and he had huge levels of lead in his system, guess what so did I. My wife and The other 2 boys didn't have any at all, their levels normal. So my advice enjoy the pools, enjoy the sunset at the beach but don't go in the water at the moment, it's to risky, they need to do something about the boats that are sank and leaking battery acid and metal."
