"100% an amazing experience. If you are looking to do something not so touristy in Cancun, I highly recommend Go Kayak Cancun! They guide you through amazing mangrove tunnels in Lagoon Nichupte. If you like nature and wildlife, this is where you want to be.
Our guide Damian was amazing and knowledgeable and very helpful. It is a relaxing kayak trip so it is safe and fun for beginners or advanced kayakers. They provide you with a snack and water as well. I did the sunset kayak which was beautiful. The mangrove tunnels were really beautiful. I saw many birds, crabs, sting rays and fish of all sorts including barracuda and puffer fish! I will 100% be back again!"

"Best way to spend an evening. Even though it was overcast with occasional showers, I had an unforgettable kayaking experience.
Andrés and Humberto were wonderful human beings. They're nature lovers, knowledgeable about the surroundings and were ready to answer any questions you might have.
I didn't bring my phone during kayaking. Luckily Andrés would offer a photo stop, take pictures for each participant/group and emailed them to us for free! I really appreciated the generous gesture.
Highly recommend Go Kayak. Wouldn't hesitate to go back."

"We loved our Go Kayak experience into the mangroves. The owner Andres is such a great guy who genuinely cares about this precious space in Cancun. He was friendly, knowledgable, and caring. His company helps to clean up garbage in the mangroves. He brought his camera and took our photos, then send them to us not even asking for money. We came here right after doing excursions with Extreme Adventures which was very commercialized, everything was about money. It was really refreshing to chat with Andres, you feel like you are just kayaking with an old friend!
We signed up for the 2 hour sunset tour. Something to know is to bring bug spray and wear long sleeves. We were swarmed by these little unknown flying insects and they bite our arms, a week later, we still dealing with itchiness."

Exploring the Laguna Nichupté Ecosystem
Kayaking through the mangrove tunnels offers an intimate experience with this delicate ecosystem. As you paddle, you'll notice the intricate root systems of the mangroves, adapted to thrive in brackish water. The shade provided by the dense canopy creates a cooler, more tranquil environment, perfect for observing the local flora and fauna. Many tours emphasize the importance of respecting this natural habitat and practicing sustainable tourism.
Visitors often report seeing a variety of wildlife, including numerous bird species like egrets and herons, crabs scuttling along the roots, and various fish swimming in the clear waters. Some lucky kayakers have even spotted stingrays and other marine life. The guides are typically knowledgeable about the local ecology and can point out species you might otherwise miss.
The Magic of Sunset and Sunrise Kayaking
Similarly, sunrise kayaking offers a peaceful and invigorating start to your day. The early morning light casts a soft glow over the mangroves, and the lagoon is often at its most tranquil, with minimal boat traffic. This is an excellent time for wildlife viewing, as many animals are most active during the cooler parts of the day.
Both sunrise and sunset tours provide a unique perspective of Cancun, away from the bustling hotel zones. The guides often time the tours to coincide with the most spectacular views, making it an unforgettable experience. Remember to bring your camera, as the photographic opportunities are unparalleled during these golden hours.
Responsible Tourism and Wildlife Encounters
When encountering wildlife, it's crucial to maintain a respectful distance and avoid disturbing the animals or their habitat. Guides are trained to help you observe wildlife safely and ethically, pointing out species and sharing interesting facts about their behavior and role in the ecosystem. This approach ensures that future visitors can also enjoy these natural wonders.
Some tours even offer the unique opportunity to kayak with pets, demonstrating a growing trend towards inclusive and pet-friendly travel experiences. This highlights a broader shift towards appreciating and integrating nature into all aspects of travel, while still prioritizing the well-being of the environment and its inhabitants.
