What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests generally praise the beautiful beach, clear waters, and the exceptional service from the staff. The adults-only atmosphere is a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful vacation. However, some find the food to be average, and the rooms are noted as being dated and in need of refurbishment, with occasional issues like drainage or odors.
"The beach and clear water made my trip for me, it was picture perfect. The staff were also all so lovely, and helpful, so definitely another huge positive!
This may just be a me thing, but the food was just ok. I was always able to find something for sure, and they had a fresh crepe station a few times at dinner which was nice. But overall, I wasn't a fan.
The rooms are definitely in need of a refurbish, as they are tired & dated, but very very clean! - my room had cracked/chipped tiles, loose plug ins, and the shower head (the handheld) was loose so it wouldn't stay when I slid the bar up, the shower also didn't drain well, so it overflowed onto the bathroom floor.
I don't know if the room service is real, I ordered some food on my first night, and it just never showed up.
The only thing that bothered me was they say on the website they offer snorkeling under the "included watersports" except according to the front desk they don't anymore. Luckily the Super Chedraui is close & sold masks & things for WAY cheaper than the hotel store. Still though, why say you offer something when you don't?
Overall? I'd potentially stay again, now that I know what to expect."

"Stayed here with the family and absolutely loved it. The food was great and the beach was always clean of seaweed when we stepped out in the morning. Rooms are a little older but still very clean. Drinks were good but nothing incredible. Could be stronger. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Mainly an older crowd here, outside of spring break, so it never gets too noisy out at the pools. Would absolutely recommend and would come back here"

"We stayed here for our honeymoon and overall had a good time here during our three-day stay
The check-in process went smoothly, and the location is great since its within walking distance to the hotel district and had lots of restaurants and shops. The lobby did have a musty smell though.
Our room was comfortable, but the bathroom had a noticeable sewage odor, so we had to keep the door closed most of the time. You can also hear adjacent rooms through the vents.
The drinks were good, and there were many options for food. I appreciated that allergens were labeled (at the buffet and through the restaurant QR codes) which made dining much easier, and had a designated vegan section at the buffet. That said, it would have been nice to have at least one vegan dessert option beyond just fruit..
Since it was our honeymoon, we were hoping for a little something special in the room, but there wasn’t anything when we arrived - no biggie, we celebrated our own way.
The beach was beautiful and convenient for snorkling because there was some reefs nearby, the activities offered at the hotel was nice too and great they offered transportation shuttles for the larger events.
On day 3 my husband got sick and he suspects its the cold cuts, don't think its the resorts fault since sickness can vary person to person."

The Riu Palace Las Americas Experience
Despite potential room updates needed, the overall guest experience is often positive, with many highlighting the friendly and attentive staff as a major plus. The resort offers multiple dining venues, including a buffet and specialty restaurants, catering to diverse tastes. Entertainment is provided, though some reviews suggest it could be more varied or engaging.
For those seeking a tranquil getaway with convenient access to Cancun's attractions, Riu Palace Las Americas presents a solid option. Its adults-only policy ensures a more peaceful environment, ideal for couples or friends looking to unwind. The proximity to shops and restaurants in the Hotel Zone adds to its appeal, allowing for easy exploration beyond the resort.
Dining Delights and Disappointments
However, not all dining experiences are met with universal acclaim. Some guests found the food to be just 'ok', noting that while they could always find something to eat, it didn't always meet expectations. The steakhouse, in particular, was described as a 'huge disappointment' by one reviewer. For those with dietary restrictions, the resort does label allergens and offers a designated vegan section at the buffet, though vegan dessert options might be scarce.
While the all-inclusive nature means food is readily available, the room service has been a point of contention, with some guests reporting that their orders never arrived. This inconsistency can detract from the overall convenience expected from an all-inclusive package.
Beach Bliss and Water Woes
However, there's a notable discrepancy regarding included watersports. While the website may list snorkeling as an included activity, guests have reported that this is no longer the case according to the front desk. This can be a point of frustration for travelers who rely on advertised amenities. For those keen on snorkeling, it's advisable to purchase masks and gear from nearby stores like Super Chedraui, which are significantly cheaper than hotel options.
Despite this, the water quality itself is consistently praised, with many enjoying the amazing ocean. The beach, while beautiful, can become crowded when the hotel is fully booked, so arriving early might be beneficial for securing a good spot.
