The serape bears the names of approximately 117 songs composed by José Alfredo Jiménez, including hits such as "El Rey" and "Caminos de Guanajuato." On top of the sombrero is a cross with 113 circles, representing the number of the hospital room where the singer-songwriter died.
One of the phrases inscribed on the tomb is "Life is worthless," a reference to one of his most iconic songs. Furthermore, the mausoleum is the only one in the cemetery facing west, in honor of his song “And I will go with the sun, when the afternoon dies.”"
