While it's a quick visit, its historical significance and prominent location on Paseo de la Reforma make it a must-see. Some caution is advised regarding traffic and potential construction.
"Worth the trip but it's not a huge undertaking. You can go and spend between 5-15 minutes walking around the roundabout taking pictures or grab a coffee or drink and enjoy the area. Be mindful, it's incredibly busy so be careful with children and pets."

"Built in 1910, it's an ode to the heroes of the war of independence.
It resembles the July Column in Paris, Nelson's Column in London, the Victory Column in Berlin and the Columbus Monument in New York City.
You can walk across the square to go up close BUT be aware that traffic isn't circular but goes both ways!!!!"

"A spectacular destination on Avenida de la Reforma in Mexico City. GO AT NIGHT!!! Be careful of traffic and sketchy people. There is typically a Policia presence there during the evenings. GREAT photography location. Smack dab in the midst of tremendous high rises. Plenty of indoor restaurants within the hotels and street front restaurants, In June 2025 - there is construction going on around the plaza where the statue resides. Some of the monument around the bottom is inaccessible. A MUST see in Mexico City!!!"
