"We had a great time at this distillery! Kevin was an awesome guide, and took us through the tour explaining the process and answering all our questions. He also set up and walked us through a tasting at the end. This was probably our favourite tour of those we did in Tequila and El Arenal - would highly reccommend!"

"What a great experience! Kevin was a fantastic guide, leading us through the distillery and explaining each step of the process along the way. Distilling tequila it turns out, is a complicated process. Going from agave plants to the liquid is a bit of an adventure!
Afterwards, enjoy a tasting in a gorgeous garden. Kevin explained the different tequilas well, and taught the correct way to taste them (similar to wine tasting) in order to assess the quality and to fully appreciate the tequila.
Finally, you can purchase any tequila that you liked from the store out front. Prices are reasonable since there are no additional transport fees, and various size bottles are available."

The Art of Tequila Making at Cascahuín
Following cooking, the agave is milled to extract the sweet juice, known as aguamiel. This aguamiel is then fermented, a stage where yeast converts sugars into alcohol. The resulting liquid is distilled, typically twice, in copper stills. This distillation refines the spirit, concentrating its flavors and aromas. Visitors often have the chance to witness these stages firsthand, gaining a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship involved.
The commitment to quality is evident in every step, from the field to the bottle. Guides like Kevin and Jimmy excel at breaking down this complex process into understandable terms, making the tour both educational and engaging. The opportunity to taste Blanco tequila straight from the still offers a raw, unadulterated glimpse into the spirit's essence before aging.
Experiencing the Cascahuín Tasting
Guides like Kevin and Jimmy are particularly adept at this, patiently explaining the correct way to taste tequila to fully assess its quality and character. They highlight how factors like the agave's origin, the cooking method, and the distillation process contribute to the final taste. This interactive approach allows visitors to develop a more discerning palate and a deeper understanding of what makes Cascahuín tequilas exceptional.
The opportunity to taste different expressions, from the vibrant Blanco to aged varieties, allows you to directly compare the impact of time and oak. Many visitors leave with a newfound respect for tequila and often purchase bottles they particularly enjoyed, a testament to the persuasive and informative nature of the tasting.
