What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning, dramatic ocean views at El Mirador, calling it a must-see on Cozumel's East Coast. The food, especially the guacamole and seafood, receives high praise, as do the refreshing drinks. While some note the presence of trash on the rocks and the persistent sales pitches, most find the experience worthwhile for the unique scenery and local flavor.
"Visited El Mirador about mid-day while on a private tour of Cozumel. The food (possibly the best guacamole ever), drinks & service was fantastic in the restaurant as were the photographic views outside. Got some great shots & enjoyed a little tequila too. Be prepared for the typical "hard sale" for the tequila and from the shopkeepers outside the restaurant. It's the way these folk make a living and they work hard at it. While some may find it annoying, I appreciate their efforts. Of course I also enjoy the dickering for a deal and I think we all came away pleased!"

"We came here for a quick bite. I wanted to spend some time here as it has very nice views but I was getting late and too the food to go . We tried fish tacos ( Maui mahi) and it was delicious. Drinks are good as well . Nice place to sit and enjoy the sea view . Food price could be a little high but it’s tourist place , so it will be . Hence don’t mind that . This place has good photo spots as well ."

The East Coast Experience
Travelers often describe the drive as exhilarating, with constant ocean views. While El Mirador itself is the main attraction, the journey along the coastal road offers numerous opportunities for stunning photography and a deeper appreciation of Cozumel's natural beauty. Be mindful of the strong winds and the powerful surf, which can be mesmerizing to watch.
It's important to note that this coastline can accumulate plastic waste, a common issue in many coastal areas. While some visitors mention seeing trash on the rocks, the natural beauty often still shines through. The experience here is about embracing the rugged, natural side of Cozumel.
Shopping and Souvenirs
Tequila tasting is a significant draw here. Many shops offer complimentary tastings, allowing you to sample different varieties of tequila. This is often accompanied by a sales pitch for purchasing bottles. Redditors advise that haggling is expected and part of the experience. Don't be afraid to negotiate prices to get a deal you're happy with.
While the shopping experience might feel a bit intense for some, it's a vital part of the local economy. Approaching it with a sense of humor and a willingness to engage can make it an enjoyable cultural exchange. Remember to keep an eye on your belongings and be aware of your surroundings.
