What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hotel Belo Isla Mujeres offers a charming, intimate all-inclusive experience with excellent drinks and a beautiful rooftop pool. While the beach is better for lounging than swimming, and dining service can be slow, many guests appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and photo-worthy surroundings. Be mindful of potential unexpected charges at checkout.
"Great, small, intimate, quiet resort. It was all good until the end. Upon arrival our bags were taken care of, check in was quick and easy and we received a welcome beverage. We were there with friends and we were able to see each other’s rooms. We had the presidential suite, with a full kitchen. Kitchen was stocked with drinking glasses, a cookware set, large knife with cutting board, microwave, nespresso machine, and fridge with freezer. We stayed nice and cold with 3 thermostats in the room too!
The beach area is small but it was NOT busy at all. The first 2 days we felt like we had the resort all to ourselves. If swimming in the ocean is on your to do list this is not the place. It’s a great place to lay out and take a dip in the pool. The drinks were the best on the island. We tried many places and we always ended up back at our resort for freshly made drinks. No mixers, not overly sweet, just fresh squeezed lemons and limes, etc… Absolutely perfect! Food in the restaurant and at the snack bar were good too. Perfect portion sizes. As others have stated it does take a bit to get your food, even if you’re the only people in the restaurant. I also found it odd that they didn’t have wash cloths and they don’t over stock rooms with towels. We literally got 2 bath towels per day unless we asked for more.
Now here’s the kicker… we had our room serviced every day. We went to check out and they told all of us we had to wait while they checked our rooms. All of us left our rooms picked up, trash thrown away, towels gathered in one area, etc… There were 2 front desk attendants, a male & female. We checked out with the gentleman and he told us there would be an additional charge for red hair color on a towel. 👀 Excuse me what??? Wait for it… our friends dealt with the female and she told them they were being charged for makeup on the pillow case, sheets and a towel. NEVER IN MY LIFE have I experienced anything like this!!!! We refused the charge and our guy was quick to put out the fire and not charge us. However the female fueled the fire, continued to insist that there were stains and they needed a “special wash”. Just out of curiosity we asked what the charge was for the makeup on those items. $50 USD folks!
First off…you can’t call it a stain when you haven’t even attempted to wash it!
We loved our stay at this resort but because of the way they handled us leaving we WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN AND WE WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE. Not only did it piss us off it offended us that you think we’re that stupid.
Not to mention how many others they are taken advantage of. I was shocked that this issue hasn’t been stated in any other reviews. Surely we weren’t the only ones this has happened to?
Literally would’ve given them 5 stars and stayed here again if they hadn’t pulled that crap when we were leaving.
Just BEWARE if you choose to stay here!"

"Small boutique hotel. You'll need to take a taxi from the ferry to get to Hotel Belo. The cost for a taxi was between $150-$200 pesos depending on the time of day. Mateo will be waiting for you when you arrive. He will help you get situated at Hotel Belo. The beds are comfortable and great air conditioning in the room. It is worth buying the all inclusive meals and drinks package for this hotel. Try the Fiedo Seco, Belo Salad, Octopus, and the Mango Mezcalita. Don't forget to tip the wait staff. I left between $100 - $200 pesos for a tip. If you have time try the massage, it costs about $90 US dollars but is worth every penny. Nelly has magic hands!!! Now word of caution the massage location is on the beach. Sometimes you can hear people behind a curtain. A few other tips: the shower stall in the restroom is glass plated. So if you're going with friends and sharing a room you're given up modesty. The pool remains open into the evening. However the drink service stops at 6pm. The roof top bar closes at 8pm. The restaurant stays open till 11pm. The beach is beautiful but there is some seaweed. If you want to go swimming in the ocean you'll need to take a taxi to North Beach. North Beach was expensive but worth going once. Try the restaurants next door to Hotel Belo, which has street vendors in case you need to buy souvenirs, bathing suits, or other goodies. I will definitely be coming back to stay."

"Beautiful affordable not-crowded all-inclusive hotel, perfect for your social media pictures! Sabbath and Mateo provided excellent service at the lobby, and Tony kept our drinks coming at the rooftop pool, which we had for ourselves for an hour. We enjoyed getting in the private hot tub after the pool! The cook at the snack bar made delicious food not in the menu for us. Our room was beautiful and peaceful. The beach was beautiful, with no seaweed, plenty of places to take amazing pics! We'll be booking here again!"

The All-Inclusive Experience at Hotel Belo
Despite some culinary critiques, the overall all-inclusive concept aims to provide a relaxed atmosphere where guests can enjoy their stay without constantly worrying about extra costs. The rooftop pool bar is a popular spot for enjoying beverages with a view, though it's worth noting that drink service typically ends around 6 PM, and the bar itself closes at 8 PM. For those considering the all-inclusive option, it's a good idea to research recent reviews to get the most up-to-date information on dining and beverage offerings.
Beach and Pool Amenities
The hotel's infinity pool, particularly the one on the rooftop, is a major highlight. It offers stunning views and is a fantastic spot for relaxation and, importantly, for taking memorable photos. Many guests enjoy the private hot tubs available in select suites, adding an extra layer of luxury and privacy to their stay. While the pool remains open into the evening, it's important to note that drink service at the pool typically concludes around 6 PM, and the rooftop bar closes at 8 PM. The hotel's intimate size often means the pool areas are not overly crowded, contributing to a more serene atmosphere.
Room Features and Guest Comfort
An interesting detail noted by guests is the design of the shower stalls, which are glass-plated. This feature offers a modern aesthetic but might be a consideration for travelers sharing a room who value privacy. Towel service is also something to be aware of; guests have mentioned that rooms are not overstocked with towels and that additional ones need to be requested. Despite these minor points, the overall comfort and aesthetic of the rooms contribute positively to the guest experience, making them a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the island.
