What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Isla Mujeres Centro Miguel Hidalgo offers stunning natural beauty, particularly its famous beaches, and a fun island exploration experience via golf cart. However, visitors often note the island has become over-commercialized with inflated prices and persistent vendors, and some areas can have an unpleasant sewer smell. Despite these drawbacks, many still find the tacos delicious and the overall experience memorable.
"We did an Isla Mujeres excursion, rented a golf cart and toured the island. We were here 24 years ago when it wasn't so populated. There was only small homes with chickens running around. The people were sparse but very friendly. Today it's over populated with over-inflated prices. People are pushy and demanding. But the worst part is the extremely strong sewer smell that makes you gag. The water and beaches are beautiful but so crowed with people and vendors waiting to charge for everything. We were very disappointed to see how a beautiful island became a breeding ground of greed. I doubt we will ever go back. Sad to say."

"The island was very interesting. Didn't get a lot of time to explore though. The tacos were BOMB! I felt inundated with peddlers trying to get me to spend my money, but I understand.... survival. The tequila was heavily overpriced, even at "60% off." Would love to go back with more time to explore more. The catamaran trip there and back was fantastic! We were supposed to snorkel but the harbor master had closed it."

"Highly recommend the fish cleaners of the feet. Ha. Good experience. Bring cash to island, service is so bad they try to not take cards . Took a golf cart around and got to see more of the island. Pretty area, if garbage was cleaned up. It's a shame."
