"Very noisy – disappointing experience despite great potential
Mayan Monkey has some great assets, but unfortunately our stay was very noisy. We stayed in a jungle room at the back, which is unfortunately located right behind a restaurant. From around 7pm to midnight, the atmosphere is completely ruined by outrageously loud pop music, making it very difficult to fall asleep.
The beach has the same issue: starting around 11am, the beach club plays extremely loud music, which may be fun for party lovers but is very annoying for guests who simply want to relax, enjoy nature, and rest.
This is a real shame because the hotel itself has a lot going for it. The jungle rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, and offer beautiful views of the lush jungle. The beach club is also very well designed and set on a charming, though quite shallow, beach.
One important warning: be very careful with the beach restaurant bills. On two occasions, waiters tried to overcharge us by presenting an inflated total that did not match our actual consumption when checked. This left us feeling deceived.
Overall, this hotel may be great for party-oriented travelers, but it is not suitable for those looking for peace and quiet. We would definetly go back if the sound system is better managed for all types of guests"

"Miguel is the best! Yall better double his pay!!!! He does so much to go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome.
I really like that this hostel has many included activities like yoga, pizza making class, and margarita making class.
The only downside is that this hostel is pretty far from everything so be prepared to walk or rent cart. But overall, I liked being secluded just didn’t know how remote it was.

"My husband and I just spent a long weekend here and I'm already itching to go back! Private jungle room was roomy and comfortable and being greeted by a kitty was exactly what I wanted. Breakfast on the beach was what dreams are made of. The ceviches at the restaurant were awesome, drinks were delicious, and service was out of this world (shout outs to Erik, Floriberto, and Danny!) We will absolutely stay here again."
