Trek Smart: Gear Up for Chichinautzin

The Corredor Biológico Chichinautzin is a vast natural area. For hiking, sturdy hiking boots are essential due to rocky terrain and loose stones to prevent ankle twists. Pack a raincoat as weather can change rapidly, and avoid umbrellas. If exploring caves, a helmet and headlamp are mandatory.

Safety First: Remote Trails & Car Security

Some trails are remote with limited services, requiring self-sufficiency. If driving, be aware that roads can be rocky and challenging for low-clearance vehicles. While the natural beauty is immense, some areas are deserted, so consider car security and travel in groups if possible. Plan your timing, as longer hikes can extend well into the afternoon.

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the spectacular natural beauty and diverse ecosystems of the Corredor Biológico Chichinautzin, highlighting its value for hiking and nature exploration. However, some caution is advised regarding road conditions, the need for proper gear, and the remote nature of certain trails.

"We went hiking, starting from Parres. The area has spectacular views.
Wear hiking boots because the trail is rocky and has many small stones, so you'll avoid accidents. Also, bring a raincoat because it often rains, and umbrellas are dangerous. It doesn't usually rain in January. The hike from Parres is over 15 kilometers (round trip), and it takes about 6-7 hours round trip."

Lisset Vega

"I started the hike beyond Parres, leaving my truck on a flat plain. I don't recommend leaving cars where I started the route because it's very deserted. I don't know how safe it is around here, but it's very deserted. The road is also full of rocks; if you're driving in a low car, you'll be in for a real rough ride.

The route was easy, but I think it's essential to wear hiking boots; there's a lot of loose rocks, and there's a constant risk of twisting your ankle.
It's mandatory to wear a helmet and a headlamp to explore the caves.
If you plan to go to the caves, you should consider that the trail will be quite long.

I started at 7:30 am and we finished at 2:30 am.

I'll be uploading reels and informative videos of this route on Instagram; you can find me at @betornillo_com"

Roberto Lara

"Beautiful view but you must drive very carefully on the curves and on the descent. Our brake pads got hot just as we were going down the Lagunas de Zempoala. Luckily, there was a brake technician about 50 meters away, very attentive and not at all abusive."
