What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Parque Lineal Río Chiquito is praised for its excellent urban design and potential as a green space for recreation. Visitors enjoy the paths for walking, cycling, and dog walking, appreciating the benches and tables. However, recurring issues with maintenance, including litter, animal waste, and inconsistent lighting, detract from the experience for many, with some expressing safety concerns in certain areas during evenings.
"The place has a lot of potential, but:
Animal dirt everywhere.
Seedy "textual" bars.
Lack of lighting and graffiti.
Garbage dump of some neighbors and passers-by (they abandon garbage bags).
Police, just to take care of the seedy bars (at least they give that impression).
People drinking or taking drugs.
*I am a neighbor and as a precaution I do not pass by in the afternoons/night. I wouldn't be surprised if it became a tolerance zone."

"A great place for cyclists, walkers, and walking your dog. They need to put up signs that raise the dog feces, because, by golly, there are so many people who don't care about that. Also, please go and give the grass and plants a good trim and watering. Above all, please fix the electricity properly. There are often weeks when the lights on the Manuel Ponce section toward Arriaga Rivera are off. It's getting better every day, and just send the truck to pick up all the leaves from the pruning you did. It's a pleasure to walk there."
MIGUEL “Bienes Inmuebles MAC” ALVAREZ CAMBRON
"The state government doesn't provide sufficient maintenance (trash cans, lights, lawn mowing, pest control, etc.).
People don't pick up their pets' droppings (not all of them).
They should implement a program for the homeless under the bridges.
Despite the defects, it's a pleasant walk."

Urban Design and Revitalization
This revitalization effort is part of a broader initiative to improve Morelia's urban landscape. The park's linear nature allows for a continuous flow, making it ideal for recreational activities. However, the success of such projects often hinges on ongoing maintenance and community stewardship to combat issues like litter and neglect.
Insights from urban planning discussions highlight the importance of such green spaces in enhancing the quality of life in cities. The project aims to create a more livable and enjoyable environment for residents, turning a previously underutilized area into a valuable community asset. The integration of diverse plant life also contributes to the park's aesthetic appeal and ecological value.
Visitor Experiences and Community Feedback
However, recurring issues detract from the experience for some. Maintenance is a significant concern, with mentions of animal dirt, graffiti, lack of lighting, and garbage accumulation. Some visitors express safety concerns, particularly in the evenings, due to loitering and drug-related activities, leading some neighbors to avoid the park after dark. There's a strong call from the community for better upkeep, including regular lawn mowing, pest control, and proper waste management.
The sentiment is that the park has great potential, but requires consistent effort from both the authorities and the community to maintain its appeal and safety. The hope is for continued improvements and a collective effort to keep the park clean and welcoming for everyone.
