"Breathtaking views after the rain stopped, friendly wild dogs, amazing stair climb if you want to, otherwise the drive up is relatively easy. Stupid hours though. "Closes" at 3, Monday thru Friday, and 5 on Saturday! Sunset is the best part of being there I should think! We were there until at least 8 pm. without being run off, but we were told it was closed by then."

"Beautiful place to visit to walk and relax and have a good time enjoying the amazing view from the Lake Patzcuaro and its surroundings"
Eliseo Martinez
"Amazing place indeed! Due to some road construction work, needed to leave car and walk the last 2 km to reach here. Beautiful stone path with fantastic views of Patzcuaro lake throughout! Carry water. Take sunglasses or hat. Wear comfortable shoes. Optional to climb the 422 steps to the upper viewpoint which has not much of a view, just good exercise from all the stair climbing!"

The Allure of the View
Beyond the main viewpoint, there's an optional challenge: climbing the 422 steps to an upper viewpoint. While some find it a rewarding workout, others note that the view from the top isn't drastically different from the main mirador. Nevertheless, it offers a sense of accomplishment and a unique perspective for those who undertake it. The area around the mirador also provides spaces to sit and relax, making it a pleasant spot to spend some time soaking in the scenery.
Navigating Your Visit
Comfort is paramount for your visit. Wearing comfortable shoes is highly recommended, whether you plan to drive most of the way, walk the final stretch, or tackle the optional stair climb. It's also wise to carry water and wear sunglasses or a hat to protect yourself from the sun, especially during longer stays or climbs. While the mirador is a fantastic spot for daytime views and sunset, be aware of the official closing times, which can be earlier than expected. Some visitors have noted staying past closing without issue, but it's prudent to be mindful of the posted hours.
