What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Rincón Colorado Paleontological Zone fascinating for its paleontological significance and scenic views, though the unpaved road access and lack of shade are noted challenges. The site is praised for its well-maintained fossil discovery areas and informative guides, but some feel it could benefit from more investment in visitor amenities like shade structures and children's interactive zones.
"Although it was suppose to be open at the time and day we arrived, it was closed. And we asked in town and now one knew why."
Juan Madrigal
"The place is really cool, the problem is that the road to get there is unpaved. From the town to the archaeological site it's 2 km, but because of the terracotta, it took us about 25 minutes uphill and 20 minutes downhill. The site itself is a tour of the places where dinosaur fossils have been found. The areas are very well maintained and the explanations are really cool. They need to offer more food and expand the interactive area for children. They should put up roofs or shade netting in the exhibit area, since the sun beats down directly if you go in the afternoon. The viewpoint has a really great view."
Manuel Esparza
"The place is "fine," but I think it needs more government investment. Edgar gives you directions and two map-like boards with the names of plant species, the mountains, and some indication of what you can see through the observation windows. Be sure to bring sunscreen or an umbrella; the sun is bright."
