Insider Tips

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Panteón Municipal a unique cultural experience, especially during the vibrant Day of the Dead celebrations. The surrounding food stalls offer authentic local flavors, though pathways can be challenging after rain. It's a place that offers a quiet reflection and a glimpse into local traditions.

"We enjoy visiting cemeteries whenever we explore a new magical town in Mexico; it's become a bit of a routine for us. It might seem weird, but that's just how we are. During one of our visits, we went to the Panteón Municipal in San Andrés Cholula. It was one of the smallest cemeteries, and it was open for anyone to walk in and explore. While there wasn’t much to see, it was a unique experience."

"It is the main pantheon of the head of San Andrés. All the inhabitants and foreigners of San Andrés rest here. It is a place where your family can visit you. The place has different pipes to drink water, a pond and there are garbage containers that are always full. It has bathrooms, a chapel and two entrances/exits. The pantheon is divided into two parts: children and adults. Remember to be careful when walking, the hallways are dirt and when it rains it is ugly to walk there. Everything related to tombs, burials, grave payments, numbering, maintenance, etc. can be seen directly in the San Andrés town hall. It seems to me to be a quiet place with a super nice view for people who are no longer with us and above all it is the place of rest that we have to respect. There is a saying that you are dust and to dust you will return."
