What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Huitepec Ecological Reserve a tranquil escape with beautiful nature, including an orchid garden and scenic hiking trails. However, access can be challenging due to limited opening days, and some feel the experience is short for the cost.
"Went there to go for a hike, there’s a gate which was closed on a Saturday morning at 10:30am?! There was a pathway on the right of the gate which I took up where I met a local after 200m that told me it’s only open on Fridays (one day a week?!). Tried to get passed but he wouldn’t let me saying this is not the path and it’s “private” though this was leading to another community further up the hill where there would be a nice lookout over the valley."

"Awesome place for up to a 3 hour hike through the hills of Huitepec. It’s quite a steep climb for the first hour but the trees and beautiful and the sendero is well laid out and maintained."
Michaela Welker
"I was a bit disappointed by this hike. Firstly, it costs 40 pesos to enter and the walk is only 2 kms long. With some steep inclines it is possible to finish in 40 minutes. The nature is okay but nothing spectacular. The sign posts are not well maintained and as a result sometimes it is possible to walk on another path. Along the path are 3 points to rest which are pretty good. Overall I would not recommend this walk."
