What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the authentic cultural experience and the incredible value found in San Cristóbal's markets. The vibrant atmosphere, friendly vendors, and delicious, affordable food are consistently highlighted as major draws. Some note that while generally welcoming, it's important to be mindful of local customs, particularly regarding photography.
"Reminds me of markets in Oaxaca. We exit the taxi and immediately witness the live game exchange actions on the street, can’t get more real than that lol. I been told the indigenous community here don’t like tourist taking photos of them so I refrain my photo action, until I see this gorgeous bean stall with a man in really cool looking poncho. We got some beans from him and with his permission I took a short video.
I love checking out local markets to discover new ingredients that I might never know. This time I saw some new spinach (maybe another varietal) and some new herbs that’s new to me. Also love the way they display the produce and seafood.
I will highly recommend coming here for a cultural and local experience."

"This is an authentical market where they sell a lot of nice stuff! I was kinda sceptical about it, but all the sellers are lovely and kind. The prices of all goods are also very reasonable and one shouldn’t bargain about the prices (we were told this by guides), because everything is hand crafted and not as commercial as other markets in the country."

"Fantastic market with everything you might need. Lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats (even live chicken and turkeys)!"
