What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the beautiful, colorful rock formations and the engaging rock scrambling sections, making for a short but memorable hike. Some note that trails can be unclear and parking areas may pose a security risk, advising preparedness and caution.
"Beautiful views! However be aware that the last rain has washed out a lot of the normal way, so you have to find your own (September 2023). The location where you park your car is a bit sketchy, break-ins are reported and the glass on the floor shows that this does happen here. We entered the canyon on the northern end of the parking through a little path"

"We found this trail easy to follow. Previous hikers even stacked small rocks to guide you on the trail. Our 7 y/o loved it and didn’t want to turn around. The boulders can be intimidating but are easily navigated (some with more caution). If you’re lucky, I might hear the frogs. Enjoy & safe hiking!
P.S. we parked at the base, just before you start the hike. You could park back by the road but that was too far for us. The road to the trail is rocky but any car can drive to that point."

"No clear trail to follow, there is lots of rock climbing involved so wear appropriate clothing and shoes, plenty of water should be taken as well! People have stacked up some rocks along the way to give you something to follow. We did this hike unguided but there are guided tours of the trail available. There is parking at the beginning of the trail if you keep following the dirt road."

Navigating the Trails
While the hike is described as short, the presence of rock scrambling adds an element of adventure. These sections involve using your hands and feet to ascend or descend rocky inclines. For most, this is manageable with caution, but it's important to assess your comfort level and physical ability before proceeding.
Always check recent trail conditions if possible, especially after periods of heavy rain, as the canyon can change dramatically. Being prepared for unexpected detours or slightly more challenging navigation is key to enjoying this unique hike.
Safety and Parking Considerations
The road leading to the trailhead is described as rocky but generally accessible by most vehicles. However, the potential for theft at the parking area means visitors should be extra vigilant. Some hikers opt to park further back by the main road if they feel the trailhead parking is too exposed or sketchy.
Beyond parking, ensure you have plenty of water and wear appropriate footwear for the terrain. The rock scrambling, while fun, requires good grip and ankle support. Being prepared for these practicalities will enhance your overall experience and safety in the canyon.
